Sir Walter Raleigh...Sequence and Order:

In today's media class, we read about and discussed Sir Walter Raleigh's explorations of the New World.

Can you take us from beginning to end of Raleigh's explorations of the east coast of what is now the United States. In other words, using this blog comment, can you list and sequence Raleigh's efforts to colonize parts of Virginia and North Carolina?

  1. 1.Raleigh convinces Queen Elizabeth 1 to let him colonize in the New World.2.Queen Elizabeth tells Raleigh to stay and sends his cousin Sir Richard Grenville in his place.3.The first group of people they drop off almost starve to death.But they catch a ride back to England with Raleigh`s other cousin Sir Francis Drake.4.His cousin Sir Richard Grenville drops off 15 more settlers on Roanoke Island.

  2. Sir Raleigh Greville left another 15 settlers in Roanoke Island. Sir Raleigh told them his settlers if they stay, he would give them 500 acres of land. They stayed, but became "The Lost Colony."

  3. Raleigh wanted to take 100 people to Roanoke Island. He dropped them off in 1587. When he came back three years later all the people disappeared...The Lost Colony.
