Sir Walter Raleigh...Compare and Connect:

In this media class, we read about and discussed Sir Walter Raleigh's 'relationship' with the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth I.

What IS the relationship between those two people? Was anything implied or inferred in the book or in our discussion about the two? Or, recalling specific examples from the book, describe their relationship to someone who has little knowledge of these two.

  1. Queen Elizabeth loved Raleigh. He was polite and
kind. The Queen loved handsome men around to talk
to. She gave Raleigh a palace and made him captain of her guards. This made Raleigh very rich.

  2. Sir Walter's relationship with Queen Elizabeth I was very good at first. But,I think it will end because she wanted him to stay in England and he had everything planned to travel to the New World. That made him very mad.

The biography of Sir Walter Raleigh is really good so far. We think that it isn't
fair that Queen Elizabeth I won't let Raleigh go to the new world. This was dream all along, and she knew that.

  4. Queen Elizabeth 1 didn't want Sir Walter Raleigh to leave because she liked to have smart, handsome men nearby. They praised her and told her jokes. Raleigh was her advisor and he was the best and it would take months or years to get to the New World and back. She liked him very much so she didn't want him to leave.

  14. I think Queen Elizabeth made Raleigh stay becaue he might have felt like a brother to Queen Elizabeth.Raleigh probably felt sad that he could not explore the NEW WORLD.Also Raleigh was probably mad because he did all that hard work for nothing but Queen Elizabeth was smart not to let him go.
